Giselle is a motion graphics project where we were given the task of creating an opening movie title sequence from an essay, article, novel, or any story with a dramatic event. I chose the story of Giselle, a ballet written by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Théophile Gautier that first premiered in France in 1841. It is the story of a lovely peasant girl named Giselle who has a passion for dancing, and when she finds out that the man she loves is engaged to someone else, she dies of a broken heart. Primary motifs, such as daisies, tulle, ribbons, spinning motions, and ink, were used due to their connection to the classical ballet.
